Traveling Landscapes on view at the Albany International Airport
Concourse A
presented by the Albany International Airport Art and Culture Program
These meticulously crafted and contained landscapes reflect both real and imagined topography. The artist stacks vintage pieces of luggage that have visited places all over the world over many decades of human travel. Atop these arrangements, a case is opened to reveal a magical, miniature scene that we are invited to explore, through forests and along waterways, in a guided tour of the imagination.
The works in this exhibition address the artist’s concern for land and water conservation, as well as the intrinsic value of wilderness. These meticulously sculpted places invert that relationship that is often felt with vast landscapes – that we are the tiny ones. Instead, these forests and waterways remind us that they are the jewels of the world – no matter where we find them on our travels.
